3 Things You Shouldn't Do When Caring For Your Glass Pipe
If you like to use a glass pipe for smoking, you probably know that cleaning and taking care of your pipe is important. What you might not know is that a lot of people make mistakes when taking care of their glass pipes. If you want to take good care of your pipe, avoid doing these three things.
1. Scrape or Jab It While Cleaning
If there is a lot of residue inside your glass pipe, you might be tempted to use a small hand tool or utensil to scrape it clean. As tempting as this might be, you should avoid doing so. You could end up breaking or cracking your glass, or you could leave behind scratches. This is a particularly big issue if there are multiple delicate chambers in the pipe that you have to watch out for. Instead, stick to gently cleaning your glass pipe with a pipe cleaner.
2. Use Harsh Chemicals for Cleaning
Another mistake that a lot of people make when caring for a glass pipe is using too-harsh chemicals. If your glass pipe is really dirty, then you might want to use cleaners like bleach to get it nice and clean. However, you should know that overly harsh cleaners could actually damage your delicate pipe. Additionally, you have to worry about inhaling fumes or otherwise putting yourself at risk when you use your pipe later. There are cleaning products out there that are designed specifically for use on glass pipes. These products are designed to thoroughly clean glass pipes without damaging them, and they are supposed to be safer for smokers who will be using their freshly cleaned pipes, too.
3. Rush the Cleaning Process
You might be hoping to get your glass pipe clean right away so that you can put it back to use as soon as possible. If your glass pipe is fairly clean, then you might be able to get it clean pretty quickly. If your pipe is really dirty you should not try to rush the process. Otherwise, you might not get your pipe as clean as you otherwise would be able to, or you might not allow your pipe to thoroughly dry. Realize that it's sometimes worth it to allow your glass pipe to soak in a cleaning solution so that it will get nice and clean. Then, make sure that you allow it to dry thoroughly before you put it back to use. Although it might be tough to wait, you'll probably be glad that you put in the time when you're able to enjoy a nice, clean glass pipe.
